Information Services
Reference and Information Service Assistance is provided to resolve information and reference queries made in person at any Branch or Mobile Library. Other requests are referred to trained reference and information staff.
Public Access Catalogues Public Access catalogues are available at all Branches to provide access to the Regional Library’s collections data base. The catalogue can also be accessed via the Internet through HIP
Information on all items currently held by the Regional Library may be found under the following headings:
- Author
- Title
- Subject
- Series
- Keyword
In addition to the above search headings, Boolean searching is available (AND, OR, NOT). There is also a user guide to assist you in maximizing your search results.
Members may also enquire about on-loan and hold details and outstanding fines on Public Access Catalogues in branches and via the internet through HIP.
Public Access Internet Access to the Internet is available at all branches and is free.
Bookings are required, and may be made in person or over the telephone to the specific branch. Bookings can be made up to one week in advance. A member may only hold one booking per day. Each booking is for a maximum of one hour.

• Operation of Internet access is at the user’s risk • No liability is accepted for any loss or damage caused by the transmission of computer viruses, or use of library equipment.
When using the Internet at Geelong Regional Library Corporation, customers agree NOT To: • Use the GRLC network to make unauthorized entry into other computers, communication services or networks; • Use other software or Internet applications except as specifically provided; • Distribute unsolicited advertising or any spam; • Invade the privacy of others or engage in activity that is harassing or defamatory; • Make any attempt to change or damage the computer equipment software, or settings; • Use the Internet for any illegal activity, including violation of Copyright or other rights of third parties, or in a manner inconsistent with the Library’s tax-exempt status; • Use the Internet to transmit or view “Objectionable Material” as defined by the Classification (Publication, Films and Computer Games) Enforcement Act 1995;
Approved Software for use on the Public Access PC’s are: • MSN messenger and Windows messenger • iTunes • Google Earth
Bookings: Customers are also asked to abide by our Bookings system, when wishing to use our free Internet Access.
Printing: Normal charges for black and white apply for each page printed from the Internet.
Geelong Regional Library Corporation reserves the right to terminate or deny Internet access due to any breach of our Conditions of Use.
A4 printing in Black and White is available from each terminal. The printouts will go to the printer behind the service counter Fees do apply
Community Notice Boards and Display Space Community Notice Boards and Display Space are available to promote local events, clubs and societies at the libraries’ discretion .
