Home Library Service

The Geelong Regional Library Corporation and DoCare Geelong provide a home library service for people who are unable to access public libraries through any other means. The service is delivered free of charge by volunteers from DoCare

The Home Library Service offers:

  • Loans including Large Print and Audio Books, Music CDs, DVDs, Reservations and Inter-Library loans (fees may apply)
  • Access to quarterly newsletters, Genre Author lists and New Titles lists
  • A regular personalised service from a friendly volunteer
  • Library items selected by volunteers considering the client’s individual tastes and requirements
  • Volunteers check for overdue items and the availability of items on reserve, in addition to delivering items to the client and collecting them for return

The Home Library service is available to people who:

  • Are unable to visit their local library branch due to temporary or permanent illness or disability
  • Are confined to a home due to full-time care of a sick or disabled person
  • Do not have friends or relatives able to assist them with library needs

The Home Library Service is dependent on the number of DoCare volunteers available and may be limited at some times.

For more information on eligibility for the Home Library Service provided by DoCare and Geelong Regional Libraries, or becoming a Home Library Service Volunteer phone DoCare on 5229 9669.
